The background of our web page honors one of the most courageous and extraordinary events of the Vietnam War, the Son Tay Raid. Depicted in the background and above, the raiders, led by Captain Dick Meadows, deploy from the HH-3 helicopter "Blueboy" which has crash landed in the prison compound. The images were developed from the original painting "The Raid, Blue Boy Element" by Mikhail Nikiporenko. Click on the raiders, or here, to read more about one of the most courageous and extraordinary events of the Viet Nam War, the Son Tay Raid.

Chapter History. Chapter 46 was originally organized in Angeles City, Republic of the Philippines. After the Assassination of Colonel Nick Rowe on 21 April 1989, the membership decided to name it Chapter XLVI Nick Rowe Memorial Chapter. When membership dwindled to three or four in the Philippines following the closing of Clark Air Force Base, the Chapter received a new charter on 18 October 1989 from the National Headquarters, designating Guam as the headquarters with no geographical limits assigned on membership. Since the majority of the membership was located in Guam, following the reissue of the charter, the remaining members in the Philippines were referred to as the Detachment Left In Contact (DLIC). With consent of the national association leadership, the DLIC conducted separate meetings and reported to the Chapter Headquarters by forwarding minutes of meetings and financial statements to the Chapter Headquarters in Guam. On 31 August 1999 another DLIC was established in Bangkok, Thailand. This DLIC eventually grew in size to make reactivation of the Chapter 3, Thailand, feasible. On 2 April 2002, the Chapter President opened the meeting of the DLIC, conducted an election of officers, and turned the meeting over to the new leadership to establish Chapter 3 Nate Chapman Memorial Erawan Chapter. Chapter 46 continues to thrive and officers and members of the Guam Headquarters deploy to the Philippines several times a year to participate in meetings and other activities with the DLIC.

Public Service Activities. Important Chapter activities include providing scholarships for Amerasian and other children in the Philippines , sponsoring an annual Christmas party for orphanage children, sponsoring the Junior Baseball League at the Bahay Bata Center for Street Kids, and sponsoring an Aeta Aboriginal tribe to provide them with clean water, clothes and toys for their children. We are involved in various Medcaps within the Philippines , both locally and down South. An additional project furnishes wheel chairs to physically challenged individuals in Guam and Saipan .

Membership. Since no geographic limitations were assigned to Chapter 46 by the National leadership, members are dispersed over six foreign countries, five states and one territory. This website does not include a membership address roster. Anyone wishing to locate a member should address inquiries to the Chapter Secretary. Qualifications for membership are stated on the membership application available on this website.

Chapter Meetings. General membership meetings are held quarterly at the Teamhouse in Angeles City, Philippines. Dates and times will be published shortly. In the interim, contact one of the Chapter Officers for details.
