Duty Free Shopping.
Guam's unique duty free status is just one more reason why Guam is one of the top tourist
destinations in the Western Pacific. Visitors will want to set aside some time from the beaches,
water sports, and visiting the many historical and cultural landmarks to pick up some quality
merchandise at great prices.
Tumon Shopping. Located in the heart of the Tumon hotel and entertainment
district are the Tumon Plaza, Galeria and Tumon
Sands Plaza duty free shopping complexes. The Tumon Plaza, is located in the same complex as the Outrigger Hotel,
Hard Rock Cafe and Sam Choy restaurant. Directly across San Vitores Road are the Galeria Duty Free Stores (DFS)
and Planet Hollywood. Just a few hundred yards to the North is the Tumon Sands Plaza. Each of these these shopping
centers contain a large selection of shops
and
stores offering quality name brand items at duty free prices, food courts, restaurants and other attractions. Looking for other activities, bite to eat, or just need a break from shopping, check out the many attractions, food courts and restaurants within walking distance. Shopping Centers. Moving away from the Tumon beach and tourist district, the Micronesia Mall and Guam Premier Outlets are two major shopping malls visited by tourists and residents alike.
Each center hosts a large variety of stores and large food courts with Korean, Chinese, Philippine,Chamorro, Italian and American fast food outlets. Each center has a movie complex with multiple theaters. The Micronesia Mall has an indoor fun park complete with merry-go-round and a jungle theme roller coaster.
Some hearty tourists can be seen walking or riding rented bicycles to thee Micronesia Mall and Guam Premier Outlets. However, this is quite a trek. The best bet if you do not have a rental car are the regularly scheduled tourist shopping busses. Other shopping possibilities
include the Hagatna and Dededo Malls, the largest KMART in the World and the Chamorro
Village. The Chamorro Village sponsors a flee market offering local handicrafts and curios, a food stalls serving a variety of local and international dishes, occasional cultural shows featuring local talent). The Micronesia Mall, Premier Outlets, KMART and Chamorro Village are on the regular bus routes. You will need your own transportation to visit the other shopping locations.
Hotels. Most of the large hotels in Tumon, and some of the smaller hotels, have large duty free shopping facilities with many shops located on the hotel premise. However, hotels can not offer the variety that can be found by visiting the many shops and stores located around the island and better bargains may in some cases be found by shopping around. And, most hotels either have available or can arrange for transportation to the shopping malls for their guests.
